The aim of the Academy of Fine Arts is to facilitate a range of quality exhibitions and every effort is made to accommodate the needs of our exhibitors. The Academy offers a variety of spaces and packages for exhibitions of any size.

As an exhibition space the Academy Galleries are unequalled in Wellington.

There are several ways you can use the Academy Galleries...

 

We often have people looking for others to share a space with and you may be able to share costs by joining with other artists in a partnered or group show. We may also be able to help with a combination rental/commission package and discounts for community groups etc.

The Academy will endeavour to fit your preferred dates into our calendar however our own Academy Exhibitions take priority over other bookings. Academy Members may also apply for a place in the Academy Solo exhibitions.

EXHIBITING AT THE ACADEMY

Artists are invited to submit their exhibition proposals to the Academy office, it is advised to book well in advance. 

The galleries are available in week blocks from Wednesday to Wednesday, which includes set up and dismantle time. The daily rate is discounted by 20% for the first week & 25% for two weeks.The Flexi-Space is a gallery within a gallery and can be used concurrently with another exhibition in Gallery Two. Each wall measures 2.4 metres and can be configured in a range of options to suit.

A GUIDE TO EXHIBITION HIRE RATES:

The venue rent includes one evening function.

Gallery One, (75 sq.m 22 linear m), [Not available for separate hire - see galleryONE

Gallery Three, (100 sq.m 42 linear m) 

Gallery Two, (370 sq.m 80 linear m) including annexe: (22 linear metres) 

FLEXI - SPACE, variable from 7.2 linear metres

Moveable walls  (2.4 linear metres each side) $200 each

exhibition bookings are confirmed by the payment of a 10% non-refundable deposit. 

Optional extras include gallery staff and the use of the Academy eftpos @ 20% commission on sales.

Note that Academy members enjoy a 10% discount to the rental rates and one of the lowest commission rates in the country.
