Olinka Heath: "Evolutionary Crucifixion"

Nature’s bird is bathed, beautified, beatified, in melted polystyrene. Incompostable. Inert. Attached to a telephone pole (cross) a living ‘real’ symbol of the sacrifice of the natural world. The product of the collective efforts of humanity’s strive, existence and growth. Held by a machined, perfect round of composite board. Made from tree pulp where once native forest grew. The board itself is bound with synthetic polymers. Pressed. A true and lasting crucifixion. The kontrapunkt, a fragile skull. The god of us all. Forgive us; we know not what we do.
