Showing in our LightSpace Gallery

An exhibition exploring concepts of fragility and vulnerability within life - whether personally or globally and environmentally - looking through the lenses of birth, death, and rebirth expressed symbolically through landscapes, figures, gowns, cloaks, and words abstracted through colour, mood, dynamic movement and layers. These works are designed to guide the viewer to think, react, and feel within the fusion of the artist’s expression and the viewer’s personal experience.

About the Artists

Rochelle Gore studied at Melbourne School of Art and Design before going on to work at Gnome Productions, an animation studio in Wellington, where she was a background artist involved in projects for Disney and NZ on Air, including a television adaptation of Lynley Dodd’s Hairy Maclary. She returned to Melbourne in 2000 to study Transpersonal Art Therapy, which has influenced her current works, providing freedom of expression and understanding of the depths within the abstract story she is telling.

Lynn Blann worked as a professional musician in Auckland during the 1960’s, often in the café’s adjoining art galleries. It was a vibrant and innovative time, driven by the Peace, Anti-War, Women’s and Māori Rights movements that inspired many musicians, poets, writers and artists. The galleries were inspirational spaces featuring the work of then emerging artists such as McCahon, Hanly, Ellis, Driver, Binney, Twiss and others. Her connection to this culture has continued to inspire Lynn, who works in acrylics, charcoals and pastels to create contemporary abstracted forms on canvas.
