Landscapes in Soft Pastel
Two-Day Workshop with Gill Allen
This two day workshop is aimed at the beginner artist with step-by-step demonstrations, handouts and examples. All materials are provided for you to ‘try before you buy’ all you need is an open mind ready to experiment, and an apron or old shirt ready to get a little messy. We will work to produce three small landscapes over the weekend, exploring composition, layering, colour and contrast along the way.
Your $220 fee includes a light lunch and a glass of wine.
About your tutor
Gill Allen was born in Malvern in Worcestershire, and was raised on the Isle of Wight. Surrounded by lush green pastures, oak and elm
trees, poppy meadows and bluebell woods, it was evitable that this scenery would be at the centre of her arts practice. Gill graduated Otago Art School with a Bachelor in Fine Arts and later received her City and Guilds in Further Education Teaching in the UK. Over the past twenty-five years Gill has honed her painting and drawing skills, with a predominance for the soft pastel medium, joining Pastel Artists of New Zealand (PANZ) three years ago. Gill’s teaching style embraces the concept that creativity is a part of all of us, and with patience, practice and a little guided tuition we can all express ourselves and enjoy the benefits of the creative process.
